Engage Abilities Program
The Engage Abilities Program was created in partnership of the South Dakota Council on Developmental Disabilities and designed to decrease the negative impacts of social isolation for FAMILIES & CHILDREN (5+ yrs) living with a disability.
Each participant will receive an awesome backpack in JUNE 2020 containing social, emotional & developmental activities including family engagement activities, pen pal activity emotional regulation support activities, tactile tools and printed resources to help navigate ongoing challenges. Refill packs will be delivered containing more goodies in JULY & AUGUST 2020!
Among the support materials for kids, the packs will include a "PARENT PACK designed to support caregivers. This includes a journal to express and process emotions, printed resources focused on how to handle change, transitions, parenting and self-care in a positive way.
Parents will be welcomed to participate in our Engage Abilities Parent Support Group that will occur weekly using an online system. This support group will be led by one of our clinicians to guide participants in expressing emotions, discussing challenges and exploring ideas to better cope in this time of uncertainty.
